NEW FAMILY COMMUNION SERVICE

Our NEW FAMILY COMMUNION SERVICE will build on the success and popularity of our monthly family service and will take a similar format.
ie. INFORMAL, INCLUSIVE, INTERACTIVE, FRIENDLY, FUN AND FREE!
It will be introduced on Sunday 31st March and presided over by the Rt. Revd. David Court, Bishop of Grimsby. This means that we will have two family services a month at Scampton that are modern, unstuffy, easy-going and family friendly.
We want children to be welcomed and valued equally, not excluded from this key element of worship; however, children must be 7 years or over and be Christened/Baptised. We also recognise the importance of teaching children about Christ's sacrifice. For this reason, prior to the first children's Communion Service, there will be two informal, and interactive sessions to teach children the meaning of Communion. If you are interested please come along.

TEACHING CHILDREN THE MEANING OF COMMUNION
 Session 1 - SUNDAY 20TH JANUARY 2019 @ 3PM IN CHURCH.
   Session 2 - SUNDAY 17th FEBRUARY 2019 @ 3PM IN CHURCH.

Revd. Sue Deacon (Local Minister)
Questions!
Q:  Who in the church can I discuss this with?
A:  Contact Sue info@scamptonchurch.org
Q:  What is Communion?
A:  Come to the session on the 20th January and find out. In simple terms it is 'a thanksgiving for God's gift of Jesus to everyone'.
Q:  Is my child too young to understand?
A:  Experience over the years in the Church of England has shown that children of 7 years and over have sufficient maturity and understanding to participate in Communion.
Q:  What if my child is not baptised/christened?
A:  This is not a problem. In most cases,  your child can be baptised/christened before the next service.
Q:  Don't I have to wait until until my child is confirmed before they can take communion?
A:  No - The Church of England now allows for children to take communion with the local Bishop's permission, and preparation beforehand.
Q:  As an adult I'd like to know more myself. How do I do that?
A:  Why not come along to the Alpha Course which starts at Scampton School at 7pm on the 11th February.
