If you happen to be participating in “dry January” hold on you are almost there. There’s even a Mocktail Week for you to enjoy fabulous non-alcoholic cocktails. Just because you aren’t drinking doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Cheers to you! XOXO ~Shoshi

Tipsy Tarot

This week’s pairing is the Plant Ally Cards and Bluecoat Gin. Some of you may not realize there is a lot of healing energy in plants. They shift the vibration of an environment including people. As for Bluecoat Gin, it’s handcrafted in Philadelphia. Gin is packed with flowers and herbs which is why the card and gin are the perfect pairing.

The cards that showed up to lead the way are Grass of Parnassus, MIlk Thistle, and Mallow.

The Grass of Parnassus is a flower mainly found in Ireland or Scotland. It brings a message of vulnerability. Being open allows opportunities to come your way, so let your guard down a little. Try something new. It’s the path that opens the door to new adventures.

Milk Thistle wants to remind you to have courage. What are you going to do to move closer to your goals. It might be time for a bold move. Nothing is ever as scary as it seems. Take a chance and let it light a fire in you.

Mallow brings in wisdom from the heart. Be open to messages that come from your heart chakra. Mix those messages with your mindset and let it lead the way. When your heart energy is pumped up there’s nothing you can’t do.

Long story short:

Be open to opportunities and surrender to the unknown. Dig deep and find some chutzpah to do something that you fear. Once you knock it out of the way, you will feel empowered to keep moving to the next level. Listen to your heart, it knows the way. Blessed be.

Soul Food And Prosecco

I’ve been in New York City long enough to call myself a “New Yorker”, yet I had never gone to the iconic restaurant, Sylvia’s. Even when I was a Harlem resident, somehow I never made it.

I was invited to have lunch with Pierluigi Bolla, the Proprietor at Valdo Prosecco. I might sound like a broken record, but one of the best wine and food pairings ever is fried chicken and sparkling wine. There was no way I was going to miss this lunch. Unfortunately Bolla was a little under the weather, but he managed to make a guest appearance before the brunch was over.

Valdo has been in the business of bubbles since 1926 by the Societa Anonima Vini Superiori then purchased by the Bolla family in the 1940’s. It’s still a family run business. They make their wines in the Charmat method which is typical with prosecco. However, Valdo’s wines have a touch of elegance that so many prosecco brands lack.

We kicked things off Valdo’s flagship wine, Valdo Prosecco DOC Brut, as the welcome glass of bubbles, because a gathering should start with bubbles, don’t you agree? Lunch was served family style with all the best soul food dishes. Get the full story >.

Kitchen Magick:

Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but ovens are starting to get real fancy. Whirlpool has unleashed a new smart oven that will let you watch your food cook via an internal camera. It’s to take “the thinking” out of cooking, though isn’t that why cooking is fun? Thinking about the cool and yummy things that you are creating. One of the highlights is 11 different cooking modes such as baking, air fry, slow cook, roast, reheat, etc. If ever there was random luxury kitchen appliance, it’s this one.

Witch On Wine:
Have you ever wanted to bathe in wine? Well, now you can thanks to Japan  where you can bathe in Merlot just like Cleopatra. Originally I said it was a hard pass for me because I keep imagining people peeing in the wine. But as a friend pointed out, people in Japan are so courteous there’s no way they would pee in the bath. However what about the tourists?! I’ll wait for one of you to report back and let me know how it is.

Bruja On Beer:

There was a time when licking a pile of dirt tasted better than a non-alcoholic beer, my how times have changed. As people are thinking more about their health and wellness, non-alcoholic beer is becoming a thing. While most beer drinkers won’t be into, those who aren’t drinking anymore or lady who may be expecting just might find non-alcoholic beer charming.

PopWitch:

The latest hit on Netflix is YOU. It’s worth binging while having a glass or wine or two. I don’t want to ruin it by giving to much of the plot, but imagine a guy who becomes infatuated with a girl he meets at a bookshop. He gets all of her info from social media then starts to stalk her and somehow the mofo gets her to fall in love with him. It’s well written and very cleaver. When watching this series I suggest a sparkling wine like Crémant or cava, but then again, a smooth red wine from Argentina would also be great.
