After a huge 2018 we've tweaked the class schedule for 2019 and we promise monthly workshops, starting with Gretel Burgess' fabulous tribal dance on 3 February.

We are also looking at adding a new class at 7.30pm Thursdays. Question: Ballet Repertory or Contemporary? Tell us!

The Australian Ballet's Storytime Coppelia is doing class in the CDT studio at 1.30pm Tuesday 15 January followed by a closed rehearsal, before performing at The Canberra Theatre this week. We have room for a small number of CDT ballet members to watch class. Max 15 people. What did you do in your holidays?

2019 Sunday workshop series

Tribal Dance with Gretel Burgess

In a high energy workshop, learn traditional African dances, modern Afro Funk and Tribal Belly Dance movement. Be prepared to delve into the stories told through specific dances and learn about the lives of the people who created these dances and the meanings of movements. There will be opportunity to create your own story through movement and the use of colourful props and costumes. This workshop is open to everyone, although some experience of dance is recommended. And it's huge fun!

CDT’s Performance Group at Art Not Apart, 2019

 
CDT’s Performance Group are excited to announce they have been invited to make a new work for Art Not Apart, Canberra’s Contemporary Arts Festival based in NewActon. This will be a site based work exploring the festival’s theme of Soul and Mortar.

Would you like to join us?

We envisage that the work will comprise of a series of vignettes in various locations around NewActon. The performers will pop up in gardens and walkways, playing with the features of each place in ways that might be socially permissible for children, but are not usually expected of adults.  We will explore the possibilities of the loosening of adult inhibitions and expectations, of reconnecting with our inner selves, and rediscovering the joy of play.
 
The rehearsal timetable (subject to change) is:
Saturday afternoons, 1.30-4.30pm, hopefully all on site:
January - 12th and 19th
February - 9th and 16th
March - 2nd and 9th (and possibly Sunday 10th)
Final rehearsal onsite
Performances: Saturday 16 March between 1-7pm
