Dear Port Fairy Folk Festival Friend,
We are truly delighted to announce that The Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee has partnered with Wannon Water in a campaign to drastically reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles at this year’s event.
Australia’s best tasting tap water will be available throughout the Festival Arena. The water is sourced from streams in the southern ranges of the Grampians National Park and treated at Wannon Water’s Hamilton Water Treatment Plant. It won the title of Australia’s Top Drop during an event in Queensland last October. In blind tastes, the water was judged at local, state and national competitions, even beating store-bought bottled water at a local level.
Festival patrons are encouraged to bring their reusable water bottle or purchase a Festival Souvenir bottle and fill up for free at one of the many hydration stations. The Festival is also introducing three streams of waste in 2019; organic, mixed recycling and general waste, and the Festival reusable coffee cup initiative will continue. Those of you who purchased coffee cups in 2018, please bring them to receive a discount on your coffee, and new souvenir coffee cups will also be available at the merchandise stall.
