WHAT'S UP

Friends, I didn't mean to be gone so long! I let the holidays and the related sewing consume me and once that was all done, I guess I just needed to 'be' for a bit. But I missed you, and have been saving up some good things to share!

I barely made the deadline for the latest Curated Quilts mini challenge, creating confluence in the space of just a couple of days. She didn't make the cut, but the spontaneous making was totally worth it.

And then. Begun with the Bee Sewcial bee last summer, I finally finished The Homage Quilt. Inspired by the liberated patchwork style of Gwen Marston, it has delighted me since I first announced the prompt, and I'm beyond tickled to have it complete.

WORTH A READ

ON TREND

Everyone seems to be talking about Marie Kondo's new Netflix series, Tidying Up, so it was fun to happen upon Laura WIttmann's An Organizer's Thoughts on Marie Kondo's Tidying Up Netflix Series and KonMari Your Sewing Space from Cheryl Arkison.

IN-STUDIO

GOTTA LOVE IT!

When Martha/[onceawingnut] opened her swap gift at our Seattle MQG holiday party, there was a collective "WOW!" She had received a unique and stunning collage quilt made by Erica/
[ricaroo.quilts] and it was something to behold. Erica used her micro scraps to create the 15" square quilt, holding them down with matchstick quilting.

Zina/[zanymouse] made this quilt for the QuiltCon Michael Miller fabric challenge and I like it SO much! Yup, I've been back several times to grab another look!
This is "Winter Kisses", a beauty made by Monika/
[monika.huelsebusch] completely from Oakshott shot cottons.

When I first saw this stunner by Molly/[lane33andahalf], I was equally impressed with the applique as I was with the lovely sentient posted with it: "Sharing is all about our stories and inspiration."

Jill/[pieladyquilts] never ceases to amaze me, and her "Riffing on a Rail, III" is a recent creation. See that 'III'? That means there was a 'II' and a 'I'. Jill is a master at taking what's left from a project and going on to create again. Her tales about all her quilts are some of my favorite reading.

SOCIAL

When Krista Hennebury posted her hands as #amakershands
encouraging others to share theirs, she had no inkling of the impact the gesture would have and the stories that would be shared. It was a good thing.

P.S. By now you've probably heard that Splash is the new Kona Color of the Year! And speaking of color, Andrea Tsang Jackson shared
How to Use Pantone's Color of the Year, Living Coral, in Your 2019 Products on Craft Industry Alliance. What color are you excited to work with this year?
