Happy New Year from Tracks and Trails

Happy New Year!2019 is off to a flying start for us. We saw in the New Year with two fabulous cross country skiing trips in Norway. We’ve been in the delightful mountain village of Cogne for our first Italian Introductory ski trip of the season, snowshoeing in Nevache French Alps, and making the most of the huge snowfall (which is still falling!) cross country skiing in the Swiss Jura. We now have excellent ski conditions in the Swiss Alps gorgeous Goms valley, in Germany's Black Forest, and along the Czech-Polish Border, perfect for our up and coming trips.

Fabulous conditions in the Swiss Jura

For snowshoers, winter walkers and hikers the French Alps are calling you! Our Queyras Snowshoe Winter Paradise, Traverse of the Chablais and Snowshoe Summits of Samoens all have departures with availability. Choose from being based in a hotel, traditional auberge or travel point-to-point for your escape to the mountains this winter.

We're excited to confirm our first ‘Improvers’ point-to-point cross-country ski along the Finnish Russian border. This golden opportunity, led by BASI Nordic Teacher Julia Tregaskis-Allen, will first develop your skiing around the vast track system at Vuokatti before putting it into practice on a 3-day tour along the Finnish frontier. Learn about the Sami people, reindeer herding and the interesting history of the area as we will be joined by our very own Finnish wilderness guide. Trip guaranteed: 10-17 March 2019.

‘Intermediate’ skiers can learn to ‘Be a Better Skier’ on our trips to Norway (dates in February and March) which offer a unique and innovative approach to improving your skiing, which will integrate outstanding ski coaching with ski specific pilates and movement analysis. Above all we aim for this week to be fun and stimulating while recognising that the foundation of good skiing is strength and balance.

The team at Tracks and Trails wishes you all the best for 2019.

A Norwegian Proposal

2019 is already proving particularly significant for Tracks and Trails co-Founder Lindsay Cannon and her now fiancé Tim Pearce! He chose the beautiful backdrop of the Norwegian cross country tracks to pop the question to Lindsay, who said yes! Congratulations to them both!

10 Benefits of Winter Activities

After the festive cheer and indulgence, winter can be a tough time of year to remain active. Shorter days and cold weather can test our resolve for getting outdoors and exercising, even if we reap the rewards of this effort when the spring arrives.

Here are our 10 reasons why taking up a new winter activity or booking a winter holiday is a good idea, and could be the perfect antidote to any hint of the winter blues. Read more.
