Tennis and Tennis Victoria

Carla Lenarduzzi: The story of a tennis hater to a tennis champion

Carla Lenarduzzi is an impressive athlete who has achieved so much during her tennis career both on and off the court. Carla is a player with an Intellectual Impairment, who competes at the highest level both nationally and internationally for her State and her Country. But it wasn’t always this way.

Australian Tennis Championships

The 2019 Australian Tennis Championships (ATC) is looking to be another epic four days of exceptional tennis as players grace Albert Reserve with their drive, determination, and most importantly sportsmanship to excel and become Australia’s best male and female player with an Intellectual Disability.

This tournament not only hosts Australia’s best players with an Intellectual Disability, but it also often hosts players from around the world vying for the ever valuable ranking points that are up for grabs.

Come and support Australia’s best players with an Intellectual Disability as they fight their way to Melbourne Park where they will be crowned the Male and Female ATC 2019 Champions.

Blind and Vision Impaired Tennis

Tennis Victoria and Blind Sports Victoria are looking forward to starting a new season of Blind and Vision Impaired Tennis at the home of the Australian Open, Melbourne Park’s National Tennis Centre. With social tennis programs and junior coaching available on Friday evenings all skills levels are welcome to join and new volunteers are always appreciated.

Pikachu power! Lightning powers!

Q. What do you want to do when you grow up?
I want to be a tennis player.

Q. Can you tell us an interesting fact (or something cool) about you that other people don’t know?
I was born in England

Q. What sports do you like to play?
Tennis and basketball and swimming

Q. What do you like about tennis?
Going really fast in my wheelchair and hitting the ball.

Q. Do you have a favourite tennis shot you like to hit? (eg; forehand, backhand, volley etc)
I like all of the tennis shots but forehand is my favourite.

Q. Who is your favourite tennis player?
Heath Davidson, Dylan Alcott and Federer

Q.  What would you say to someone who is thinking about playing tennis (or any sport)?
You should just play it because it’s so fun! Because you get to move around and hit the ball and stuff.
