Welcome to the summer edition of Club Spirit

Happy New Year to all clubs and volunteers! The summer teams are now well into competition mode and the City would love to hear about your club’s successes across the season. Please contact me to feature your achievements in Club Spirit or if you have had any changes in committee members.

Thank you to all the clubs that have recently completed the Club Development Survey, your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be used to update contact details and gauge future and current needs of clubs.

Seasonal booking packs have now been sent to all winter user groups. Clubs are encouraged to complete and return these by Friday 25 January 2019 to ensure bookings can be processed in a timely manner before the summer season commences. If you have not yet received your booking pack please contact the Club Development Officer on 9474 0777.

The City has embarked on a suite of strategic recreation projects that aim to provide guidance on the future of our facilities in sport and recreation. All projects will align with each other and advise priorities for upgrades and redevelopment of facilities. The projects will inform all community sport and recreation groups of broad timelines and delivery of maintenance and capital works schedules over the next 15 to 20 years.

In October 2018, Council endorsed the City to support further project research, start formal stakeholder engagement and commit to consultation with the community for a proposed Recreation and Aquatic Facility (RAF) to be located in the City of South Perth.

The City is currently investigating the feasibility and funding opportunities for a RAF for the City and surrounding area. A business plan will be submitted to Council by July 2019. The project will look at the feasibility of a regional scale sport, recreation and aquatic facility located within the City of South Perth to service the needs of the community as well as Curtin University, Town of Victoria Park and the City of Canning. To be kept up to date on the project and to find out about future opportunities for participation, please register for email updates on Your Say South Perth.

I look forward to working with your club in 2019.

Kind regards,
Jess Fordham

The Manning Rippers pre-season commenced on Tuesday 15 January at James Miller Reserve and the first game is scheduled for April 2019. Supporters, players and officials should join the Manning Rippers Women's AFL Group on Facebook to show support.
