PRE SHIPMENT INSPECTIONS FOR KENYA
Following the massive confusion that took place for LCL / consolidation cargo and inspection on the new regulations we hereby are happy to give you a clear overview of the right procedures.
There are 3 types of inspections and the type of inspection is also linked to the transport mode. The start of the procedure is that the importer must request the inspection at destination and to confirm the reference received to the shipper so that they can make an appointment with one of the registered inspection bureaus for Kenya.
LCL // CONSOLIDATION CARGO
Needs to go unter route B or C and cargo will be inspected either at shippers premises or alternative at our warehouses. Only the specific shipment will be inspected, the inspection bureau will not be present during loading of our groupage boxes nor seal it. Also several inspection offices are allowed so every shipper can choose their own, one will not seal for another inspection company.
Our agent FAMO LOGISTICS LIMITED, MOMBASA / KENYA is a full member of the Kenya Groupage Cargo Handling Association and only members of this association are allowed from "KEBS" Kenya Bureau of Standards to receive LCL groupage containers.
So if your cargo is inspected by one of the registered inspection bureaus you can ship your cargo with us without having any issues at destination as our agent is offical allowed by KEBS to receive and handle our groupage boxes.
If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.
