On December 14th, the EUF attended the workshop
Bologna Digital 2020, organised in Berlin by the
German Forum for Higher Education in the Digital Age. Education experts gathered to address the ways in which digital developments are shaping the landscape of higher education in Europe and how the digital revolution can help achieve the goals of the Bologna Process. The discussions centred around six topics: skills for the digital age, blended mobility, recognition of prior learning, strategies for teaching and learning, preparation and admission systems, and quality assurance. The EUF underlined the role that projects such as Erasmus Without Paper and the Erasmus+ Mobile App are playing in easing mobility. It also stressed that while virtual tools can complement student and staff mobility, they are no substitute for it. A second workshop will follow later in the year, and a White Paper, based on the outcomes of the workshop, is to be published ahead of the 2020 Bologna Ministerial Conference.

PhD Hub platform coming soon.
The first year of the European PhD Hub has seen remarkable progress thanks to the collective endeavour of all the partners involved. Notably, the University of Alcalá made a thorough preparation of the technical blueprints and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki developed a powerful semantic engine to match needs and opportunities for universities, companies and potential PhD students. The PhD Hub will be based on local hubs and an online platform which will match research cooperation opportunities for universities and companies. Users will be able to create a personal profile with contact details to facilitate the matchmaking process. By the end of February, the PhD Hub platform will be deployed in each local hub, enabling all partner organisations and universities of the project to launch their calls for cooperation and offer increased opportunities in the field of doctoral studies.
