Top of the Line at ESU 9

Tracy Jarosik was nominated for the Top of the Line Award by Joe Haney, Interim SPED Director. Tracy was nominated in the category of “Educate - recognition in this area relates to instruction for students, staff, adults, families, etc. and could include recognition of high-quality instruction, teaming among staff and agencies, etc.

This is what Joe had to say…

"Tracy Jarosik is the preschool teacher that leads a classroom at Silver Lake Elementary School in Bladen. This is her second year in the position. It is remarkable how through her dedication and hard work she has made a positive impact on the students she serves. Early in August, Tracy and I went to a training on a classroom environmental assessment ECERS-3 (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale). It is used by the state to assess the quality of preschool classrooms across the state. The assessment changed over the past year and the training we attended was full of different preschool teachers and administrators whose classroom had failed the assessment and wanted answers to “why” this had happened. The training illustrated to us how the recent changes in the assessment was meant to help preschool students to succeed. Tracy took the training to heart and we developed a plan to make positive changes to the program. Over the past two months, Tracy made changes to her classroom, provided training to the paraeducators and other staff that work in her classroom, and made changes to her curriculum that not only adhered to the standards of the assessment but more importantly helped children learn. Because of Tracy’s tireless efforts, she passed the ECERS-3 evaluation this past month. I am proud of her efforts to help her students.

Thank-you, for the positive impact that you have on the children and families that you work with!"

Congratulations, Tracy!

Lucky Number 7: The Bus Ride Continues!
Jon Gordon's Rule #7 states: Enthusiasm attracts more passengers and energizes them during the ride.

The aforementioned rule is true. If you want direct evidence, spend just a few minutes with ESU 9 employees Brittany Henderson (photo to the left) or Sally Carter (photo below). These two people know how to light up a room!! Brittany works in our Deaf & Hard of Hearing Department as an interpreter, and Sally works with students in the 18+ Program. Being around Brittany and Sally just makes you feel good.

Gordon writes: “When you get excited and enthusiastic about life and your work, you bring this powerful, divine energy to everything you do, and people notice.”

He also shares: "I don’t care what product you are selling, what division or team you are leading, or what product launch you are presenting. People are always buying you and your energy.”

Brittany and Sally slay energy vampires. The next time you see them, I hope you will take a moment to ask them how and why they are so positive. Their answers are pretty simple. It’s a choice.

Choose to be positive…. it matters.
