Hey y'all! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season. The McMullin family was basically a revolving door of illness from Thanksgiving to Christmas (one of the many joys of large family life) but we were able to squeeze in lots of magical moments like picking out our own crazy tall tree at our local tree farm and watching a lot of Christmas movies surrounded by tissues (kids) and knitting (me). I knew things were going to be busy so I gave myself the year off of gift knitting and instead have been sneaking in rows on my selfish project whenever I can. As much as I love knitting for family and friends, this was such a self-care win! The Beeswax sweater from Veera Valimaki has been the perfect knit for it. I messed up my neckline making it just a tad too long, so I think I'm just going to pick up those stitches and commit to a turtleneck instead. Since it's nice and loose I think it'll end up being one of those mistakes that makes the FO even better. I'm knitting it with our Posh Skinny (MCN light fingering) yarn in our Vintage colorway held double which is my favorite technique for taking intense speckles and giving them a whole new subtler look.
But enough about that - I have news that involves prizes! We're hosting a MFC Make Along this month. If you haven't noticed, we're not really into making our joyful crafting feel too much like work, so this will be the easiest make along you'll ever do. You don't have to cast on a specific project, there are no deadlines, it's just about making whatever you want to make! Here are the only rules: make something, anything, with at least 50% McMullin Fiber Co. materials. Post about it on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #mfcMAL2019 and #mcmullinfiberco. (Make sure it's a public post so we can see it!). Do this as many times as you like between now and Feb 15th. We'll pick our favorite photo each Monday and the maker who posted it gets a free skein of yarn from our shop! Feel free to double dip with other make alongs or contests. Easy peasy lemon squeezy friends!

We've added a new base - Fluff - to our shop. It's a super soft kid mohair and silk blend perfect for working alone or held together with another yarn to give that fluffy halo to your FOs. I'm currently planning a No Frills Sweater, and a Kobuk hat, and a Bennet Sister Shawl, and the list keeps growing! Tomorrow I hit the dye pots and there will be skeins inspired by Little Women characters involved. Although that was last month's Lit Society selection, I just can't shake some of the extra ideas I had while working on it. So they need to come out. There will be plenty of old favorites and brand new color ways in our next shop update January 14th. 2019 annual Lit Society subscriptions end this week and we'll have just a few single month spots for January's Call of the Wild open up right afterwards.
As always, thank you for your support of our family business. It is so fulfilling to do work that I love, be home with my babies, and see so many of the yarn babies I send out into the world grow into amazing projects.
