The AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award acknowledges and supports the essential role women play in rural industries, businesses and communities.
The Awards in Western Australia are supported by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, the Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network of WA, CBH Group and Westpac.
The WA winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Perth on Thursday 7 March and will receive a $10,000 business development award to help develop their project before progressing to compete in the national awards.
The finalists are:
- Leah Boucher, Kambalda
- Tanya Kitto, Geraldton
- Belinda Lay, Esperance
- Juliet Grist, Denmark (Previously from the Wheatbelt).
Since leaving RDA Wheatbelt Juliet has continued to work across Western Australia helping communities develop programs and source funding for both infrastructure and community development. Her understanding of the difficulty of attracting resources to small communities to support wellbeing has led to a project that looks to leverage collaborations, and ultimately the social impact market, to help. Her aspiration is for rural and regional communities to be enabled to be co-creators and co-investors in solutions that work for them
RDA Wheatbelt is thrilled and excited to see Juliet recognised for her commitment to the regions, including projects such as the “Collaboration for Regional Impact” (Thrive Wheatbelt), “Wheatbelt Secondary Freight Route Network” and “Enterprising Communities”.
Congratulations Juliet and we await the outcome of the awards with anticipation.
