Rents

Tenants' key messages

What cuts would you make to the City of Edinburgh Council's (CEC's) budget?  ETF will shortly be making plans to present a deputation to Councillors concerning tenants' rents for the coming year.  If you can suggest possible savings that CEC could make, have any key messages that you wish ETF to make to elected members or would like to help in presenting the deputation to elected members on behalf of ETF, please contact Mark Henry by clicking here.

In October 2018, ETF submitted a response to CEC's Rent Consultation.  A copy of ETF's response can be downloaded by clicking here.

CEC Draft Tenant Participation Strategy

Help shape future housing services

Would you like to play your part in helping to shape future housing services in Edinburgh? CEC will shortly be consulting on its Tenant Participation Strategy and this is an ideal opportunity to have your say on aspects such as:
  • How are tenants able to help to develop quality services?
  • What works well and what doesn't?
  • What support and resources do tenants need to take part?
  • How are tenants able to take part, if they want to, and influence decisions that affect them?
  • How can CEC encourage more people to become involved locally?
If you would like to play your part in helping to formulate ETF's response to the draft Tenant Participation Strategy or have any thoughts on what should be included in the Strategy, please contact Mark Henry by clicking hereResponses should be submitted no later than Monday 14th January 2019.  A copy of CEC's draft Tenant Participation Strategy can be downloaded by clicking here.

Edinburgh Registered Social Landlords Residents Network

We want you!

  • I have some spare time;
  • I am interested in carrying out some volunteer work;

  • I want to help make a difference in people's lives.
The Edinburgh RSL Residents Network was set up in April 2015 to improve social housing standards in Edinburgh.  The Network is run wholly by tenants and residents of RSLs in Edinburgh.  At present we are looking for volunteers to join our committee and to help us achieve our goals.  If this is something you are interested in or would simply like more information, please contact the Network's Secretary Terry Kirby by clicking here or phone 07806 818857.

The 'Democracy Matters Fund
Tenants' groups can have a funded conversation about democracy. You can get up to £300 to hold a small local event for people and it’s not taxing to apply. The Scottish Government Democracy Matters Community Engagement Fund provides grants of up to £300 (in exceptional circumstances up to £500) to small voluntary organisations and community groups in Scotland to help them run an event with a group of five or more people to discuss what matters to them in relation to democracy. To apply or find out more please visit the website by clicking here.
Improving Rent Collection with Tenants
A group of tenants recently inspected the CEC's communications on rent.  The tenants think that some of the rent letters CEC sends to tenants could be clearer.  If you would like to talk about how the rent letters could be improved, please contact Mark Henry by clicking here.
