EUROPE: Recently, Frank Magnitz - a German far-right MP - was attacked by a group of at least three masked men. The men reportedly knocked Magnitz unconscious. Now, officials are saying they believe the attack was politically motivated. In other news, it just came out that banks and other financial bizes are moving around $1 trillion (yes, with a ‘t’) out of the UK due to Brexit. Roughly 10% of the total assets of the UK banking sector. This comes just two months before Brexit’s set to kick in. Bad omen. Speaking of which, yesterday, the World Bank prez resigned. Not good, since the US is usually in charge of appointing a new prez - but Trump’s not a fan of international organizations like the World Bank. Stay tuned.
POLITICS: Yesterday, Israel PM Netanyahu said ‘no really - I’m innocent’ and used a prime-time address to clap back at a series of corruption allegations. Quick refresher: a few months ago, Israeli police recommended indicting Netanyahu for doing lots of shady things. So weeks ago, Netanyahu announced that he’d be speeding up Israel’s election date. And now, says it’d be “unjust” to indict him ahead of the elections. Meanwhile, Turkey’s not backing down. The other day, the US announced that it wouldn’t pull troops out of Syria until the Turkish gov guaranteed the safety of the Kurds, a minority group in the area. To which Turkey said ‘not a chance.’ Standstill.
WORLD: Recently, Kim Jong Un said ‘surprise!’ and made a sudden visit to China. This comes as the US’s relationship with North Korea is...not all that great. No word yet on this latest news from Prez Trump. Meanwhile, all eyes are on Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun. She’s a Saudi woman who recently fled to Thailand - allegedly after being abused - and barricaded herself in her hotel room in a bid for asylum. Now, it looks like she’ll be allowed to stay in Thailand temporarily under the protection of the United Nations refugee agency, who’ll be studying her asylum claims.
