Hey Sturgeon Alliance

January is always a time to think about the future. Who do we want to be? What changes do we want to make in our life? What do we want to accomplish this year?  You have probably already taken some time to think about these things…It’s always a good practice.

Well, for the month of January we here at Sturgeon Alliance Church are going to ask some of those questions too. What does God want for us in 2019? What is His vision for us? And what does he want us to accomplish in 2019 to Make his Name Famous?

Last Sunday we launched our 2019 Vision Series called “ONE” – One Prayer, One Word, One Serve. Over the next few weeks we are going to explore each one of those but, this past Sunday we backed up and asked a pre-vision question – How do we even discover God’s vision for us? Or asked another way -How do we know God’s personal will for our lives? You might remember, we learned that God’s Personal will for our lives will always fall within his Moral will (what God has already outlined for us in his word) and his Sovereign will (what God is doing in the world already) And the only way to know God’s Moral and Sovereign will, is to know his Word!

I also challenged us to come ready on Sunday Jan.20^thto select ONE WORD for 2019. ONE WORD meaning, one verse or passage of scripture that will be the focus for you for 2019. (not necessarily just one singular word) The hope is that everyone individually will select one verse or passage from the Word that will be “the ONE” solid foundation we can come back to over and over again throughout the year.
So, for the next 2 weeks, be thinking and praying about what passage of scripture God would place as the focus of your life for 2019. Is it: James 1? Proverbs 3:5-6? Psalm 23? John 10:10? Hebrews 12:2? There are so many good ones!  When we come to worship on Sunday Jan.20^thwe are all going to individually write those scripture references on a rock and solidify our foundation on the Word. By the way - Parents, this is great discipleship material for you and your kids! Prayerfully help your kids choose some scripture and maybe you want to choose a family “One Word” too! So exciting!
What is God going to do in our lives in 2019 as we place Him and His word in the forefront of our lives? I can’t wait to find out!

This Sunday we jump into our ONE PRAYER for 2019.  We’ll be looking at Ephesians 1:15-23 and we’ll be doing things a bit differently than last year.  Come ready to embrace this prayer as part of your prayer life for others in 2019.

Sunday Jan.13

Ephesians 1:15-22 is going to be our One Prayer focus for each other in the coming year. On Sunday January 13,2019 we will be unpacking this prayer and what it means to pray it for each other. Let’s continue to pray for one another and watch God work in our midst!

Sunday Jan.20th

As part of our vision series on Sunday Jan.20^thI’ll be asking us all individually to select one portion of Scripture to be our solid foundation for 2019. What part of the word of God does God want you to focus on for the year? Ask God to show you. We are going to write these passages of scripture on solid bricks as we seek to build our lives on the foundation of God’s word.

Sunday Jan.27th

As part of our vision series on Jan.27^thI’ll be asking us all to contemplate our individual serving opportunities for 2019. Where does God want us to step out in faith and serve him in the new year? How is the Family Project part of this?

Our next Dinner On Us will be Monday Jan.21^st at 6:00pm. Please RSVP by Wednesday Jan.16^thif you plan to attend. This is a meal open to everyone as a way to gather and connect. Come have a meal with friends!

FUSE & Ignite Gr. 5/6 are both back in full swing this Friday from 7pm-9pm.

2 Minute Mingle

Once again we are going to change things up on Sunday AM worship. You might remember we did something called a 5 Min Intermission. Instead of 5 min intermission we are now going to do a “2 minute mingle.” It will be your chance to connect with others or scoot out for a short break if needed.
