New Year's Resolution: Ride More!
One of the best ways to work through the winter doldrums is to think about all the great riding that's to come when the warm weather starts to come back. Hopefully, everyone had the chance to sneak in a ride last weekend - but the polar vortex is soon to come back.
We're moving our business and planning meeting up to Sunday, February 10th. It will be held from 10:00 - 12:00 at the Royal Oak Community Center. Same location as the past couple years. The Leo Mahany / Harold Meininger Senior Community Center located at 3500 Marais Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073. For those that are interested, we will gather at Griffin Claw Brewing Company (575 S Eton St, Birmingham, MI 48009) afterward.
We have a base schedule already produced with our traditional rides. We will focus the planning section of the meeting on how to fill in the gaps. While we have a lot of ADV ride options, we would like to generate some additional new fun road rides. These could be bigger rides, or small local things. Also, with the MOA rally in June and the RA in September, we have the opportunity to do something new mid-summer. Bring your thoughts, or better yet - post them in the TCD forum so we can get the conversation going sooner.
We will also be re-starting our TCD nights. The second Tuesday of the month, we meet at 6:30 p.m. at various locations to break some bread and plot our coming activities. Tuesday, January 8th we will meet at the Wurst Bar in Ypsilanti (705 W Cross St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197).
BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan is starting their winter seminar series this Saturday, January 12th at 1:00. The first seminar is about getting started in ADV/Dual-Sport riding and will be presented by the TCD.
Winter Riding
A few of the crazies in our bunch started the ice riding the minute the ice formed. The early season didn't last long. I'm sure there will be ample opportunity to get more riding in the near future though.
Mr. Hunter, showing us how it's done.
We also had a contingent head down to Arizona to hit the portions of the southern section of the Arizona BDR (Backroad Discovery Route) in early December. It was very fun to get some late season riding in. The ride report will make it to the TCD site soon.
