Triangulation: Dark Skies
The Pittsburgh chapter of the IDA is announcing an opportunity for writers to get paid for short stories dealing with light pollution.

“Triangulation: Dark Skies” will be published in May, 2019 with 20 original speculative fiction stories in which skies filled with stars play an important role. This is an educational anthology, to be given out (or sold) at astronomy outreach events.

We pay 4 cents per word for stories up to 5000 words. The submission period is now through February 28, 2019. The competition is stiff, but everyone reading this has an edge up since we understand the issues. We grok the awe of a dark sky and the sadness at pervasive skyglow.

Good luck! Guidelines are here: http://parsecink.com/submission-guidelines/

"Chasing Darkness" by Eva Botkin-Kowacki
Pittsburgh got a shout-out in the Christian Science Monitor article "Chasing Darkness" by Eva Botkin-Kowacki.

International Dark-sky Association Donor's Calendar
Pitt student Mike Lincoln has a photo in the International Dark-sky Association donor's calendar for 2019.

For a $50 donation to IDA (http://www.darksky.org/), you can own a calendar and see his spectacular astrophotography of the Milky Way from a dark site south of Pittsburgh, photoshopped onto a City of Pittsburgh image from Mount Washington.

Congratulations! http://mikelincolnphoto.com/
