Avonmore Primary School
Weekly Newsletter

11.1.19
As you are aware, we have been working with the Fox Federation for some time. The Governing Boards of Fox Federation and Avonmore Primary School are proposing that Avonmore  join the Fox Federation.

Fox Federation is currently comprised of two state-maintained primary schools—Ashburnham Community School and Fox Primary School. Avonmore Primary School is currently a separate, stand-alone, state-maintained school.

This leaflet explains what this would mean for parents, pupils, staff and interested parties and provides an opportunity for everyone to comment. You can also share your views by completing this short survey

We are holding a meeting on Tuesday 15th January at 5pm in the hall. This will be an opportunity to ask any further questions that you may have and to discuss the process with Avonmore and Federation Governors.

Learning around Avonmore this week

The Nursery children began the Spring term with energy and enthusiasm as they explored new movement skills in PE with Coach McCann.

This week in our maths lessons, Reception have been learning all about measure. During their independent learning time, the children enjoyed finding different resources to use to measure each other.

Year 1 have had a creative start to 2019 by making these amazing paper sculptures.

Year 2 have had a fantastic and busy first week back at school. We particularly enjoyed our attendance prize trip to Pizza Express where we got to make our own pizzas!

Here are just some examples of the amazing research that Year 3 did on the artists who inspired the names of our new school houses.

This week in Year 4 we have been making levers and investigating how to make it easier to lift a heavy load.

This week Year 5 started our new maths topic: fractions. The children used a range of methods to find equivalent fractions - our record was 12 equivalents!

Year 6 have already settled in to their routines and have had a great start to the term. They  have started debating this term with Mr Brown and so far are really enjoying putting their views forward!
