EWF WAS PRESENT AT FORMNEXT
On November 2018, EWF was present at Formnext, one of the leading international trade fair for additive manufacturing technologies. EWF showed the contribution brought in the training of additive manufacturing personnel as well the education steps to develop an operational workforce qualified for welding technologies and Additive Manufacturing technologies.
EWF AND RENISHAW DISCUSS AREAS OF COOPERATION
On 10th January the EWF Deputy Director, Eurico Assunção, had a meeting with Renishaw, a global company with core skills in measurement, motion control, healthcare, spectroscopy, and leader in the field of additive manufacturing. The meeting served the purpose of identifying areas of future cooperation between the two entities in the field of personnel qualifications in additive manufacturing, an area where EWF is actively involved.
RECOGNITION AWARD FOR THE BEST
EUROPEAN WELDING COORDINATOR
During the 53rd EWF General Assembly meeting that took place on October 30th, the EWF Award for the Best Welding Coordinator went to Mr. Francesco Cavini, currently Engineering Manager at CIESSE S.p.A (Florence, Italy). His managing skills contributed to this award, which was recognised by CIESSE S.p.A. in the design and production of the high-speed train “ETR 1000”, by Ansaldo Breda-Bombardier.

// GREECE HAS NEW WELDING LABS //
After ten years of consistent work, our member from Greece, the Greek Welding Institute presented to the Greek market, the Welding Labs, where 24 trainees can make use of the most advanced welding technology and safety measures while receive training from the EWF harmonised system.

// ROMANIA ORGANIZED A ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION //
 
 ”DEVELOPMENTS IN WELDED STEEL CONSTRUCTIONS”
On September 2018 the Romanian Welding Society, Romanian Alliance of Technical Universities and Politehnica University Timisoara organized a round table discussion - ”Developments in welded steel constructions.”
During this event, the first nine diplomas of the International Welded Structure Designer in Romania were handed by ASR CertPers through the Executive Director, Dr. Horia Dascău, together with Professor Luisa Coutinho, Chief Executive of the European Welding Federation and with Prof. Dr. Eng. Radu Bancilă, Chairman of the Examination Board.

On November 22th, 2018, the General Assembly of CESOL ratified the appointment of Mr. Fernando Mañas Arteche as the new CEO of CESOL, a member of EWF.

"DIGITALISATION IN VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND FURTHER EDUCATION"

This international event will provide all the participants with an outstanding platform for networking. It is being jointly organised by the DVS – German Welding Society, GSI – Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mbH, the EWF – European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting and the International Institute of Welding (IIW).

The conference "Knowledge, which welds together", organized by Swiss Welding Association (SVS), will take place on June 5, 2019 at the Hotel Aegerisee in Unteräger, Switzerlandi. At the conference, speakers from Switzerland, Austria and Germany will give very interesting and informative lectures in the fields of materials, welding processes, additive manufacturing and failure analysis.
