Throughout the month of February, CoE Cares is hosting a collection drive for two worthwhile causes - Lifeline Animal Project and Georgia Tech's very own Campus Cats

Will you be my Valentine?

Thousands of animals across Atlanta, including our local campus cats, would love to be your valentine this winter. CoE Cares will be collecting donations for both Lifeline Animal Project and the Georgia Tech campus cats. Lifeline is a no-kill shelter, with five shelter locations across Atlanta. The organization cares for more than 30,000 animals each year and has made tremendous and measurable progress — lifesaving rates are nearly 90% each month. Campus Cats is a grass roots community of GT staff and faculty that care for the feral cat population on Georgia Tech’s campus. Along with providing food and water, Campus Cats runs a catch and release program to ensure the cats are spayed/neutered and then returned to campus.

Here’s what they need — look for a collection box in your School during February.

Staff Spotlight: Communications Manager and Cat Foster Dad, Walter Rich

Walter is holding Momoa – a car accident survivor from Paulding County Animal Hospital.

CoE communicator Walter Rich works in the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. In addition to writing about all things biomedical, he spends a lot of his free time fostering cats in need with his wife — at one point in time they’ve had 13! Read about his path to Tech and passion for cats in this month’s staff spotlight.

COESCAC Updates

Since Staff Engagement Day in November, COESCAC (CoE Staff Culture Advisory Council) has been working on consolidating staff feedback into strategies for improvement for each staff function within the College. Staff should have received an email in January, including highlights from Staff Engagement Day, the organizational effectiveness survey results, and progress reports on each School’s action items. Additionally, staff were invited to join a Functional Action Team. These teams, led by COESCAC members, will dive deeper into strategies for improvement for each function and develop workable, realistic solutions to issues and challenges CoE staff regularly encounter.
