Have you ever eaten Cajun French Gumbo?
Last week, Judi cooked a great Cajun French dish called Gumbo. Wow! Delicious!
Cajun French people are decedents of French Canadians and live in small communities in areas of South Louisiana. I grew up in a French speaking community in South Louisiana and if you are part of the TBC Family of Believers you have heard me talk about this in different sermon messages.
A Cajun French Gumbo begins with a dark roux made from a filé powder. The filé powder comes from the ground up leaves of sassafras trees. This gives the gumbo the name “Filé Gumbo.” Often okra and chicken and shrimp and spicy Cajun sausage are added. The final gumbo is always eaten over rice.
This final dish could also be called a “Jambalaya” which means “A mixture of good things.” So, this week A THOUGHT FROM YOUR PASTOR can also be called, “A Spiritual Jambalaya.”
Here is recipe for “Spiritual Jambalaya, A Mixture of Good Things.”
Follow the directions below.
Answer this question.
Are you a Philippians 1:21 Christian or you a Philippians 2:21 Christian?
Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Philippians 2:21 “For everyone looks out for his own interest, not those of Christ?”
In other words, do you live for Christ or for yourself, your own interest?
Memorize and practice Colossians 3:2
Colossians 3:2 “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
The Bible is saying that you can learn to direct the outcome of what you think about if you “set your minds on things above,” that is, spiritual things.
Think about Romans 8:6
Romans 8:6 “The mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.”
Place each Scripture in 1 – 3 above in your mind daily for five days, the purpose is to FILL YOUR MIND WITH GOD’S THOUGHTS and the result will be “Spiritual Jambalaya” because you will be made new in the attitude of your mind.
Ephesians 4: 23 says “To be made new in the attitude of your minds.”
My favorite Spiritual food is “Spiritual Jambalaya.” Give it a try, you, too, will like it.
In Christ,
