Housing Association fined £1m for lift death


A Dorset based housing association has been fined £1m for breaches of health and safety legislation leading to the death of a five-year-old girl who became trapped while using a lift at her home in Weymouth. The association’s lift maintenance contractor was also fined £533,000. Read more

Local authority stock down to less than 1.6 million


Latest statistics published by MHCLG for the year ending March 2018 show that local authorities owned 1.59 million homes on 1 April 2018 – a decrease of 0.6% on the previous year. There were 1.11 million households on council waiting lists and landlords made 108,300 lettings during the year. Read more

Government announces a new housing complaints service


The government has announced plans for a new housing complaints service for the housing market which the government claims will ensure both homeowners and tenants know where to go when things go wrong. However, details of proposals to improve redress for social housing tenants which is being considered separately will have to wait until the Spring. Read more

Government's response to consultation on the use of RTB receipts 
 
ARCH has been advised that the government’s response to its consultation on the use of RTB receipts is not now expected until the next “fiscal event."  Read more
