WINTER ADVISORY: Spectrum Center office at Trotter is closed until 7:00 am on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019

The University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus issued an emergency reduction in operations effective tonight at 12 a.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Friday due to predicted extreme low temperatures and wind chills.

All classes and events occurring during this time have been canceled.

LGBTQ Health & Wellness Week 2019 Featured Speaker - Ignacio Rivera

Ignacio G. HutiĆ” Xeiti Rivera (they/them) is a trans and queer activist of color with over 20 years of experience in anti-oppression and sexual liberation work including topics of: consent, sexual survivorship, and sex after sexual violence. Their work continues to center those at the margins, particularly people of color and those with queer and trans identities.

Register for Lavender Graduation!

Lavender Graduation is a celebration of LGBTQ graduates of the University of Michigan. Graduates from any school/college in the University from any academic level are welcome to participate. All participants will receive a FREE rainbow 2019 tassel, lavender cords, and a Lavender Degree!

Families, students, faculty, and staff are all welcome to join the celebration. Light appetizers will be served after the ceremony.

Spectrum Center's G Ryan opens up about depression and gender dysphoria in new video
 
The University of Michigan's Athletes Connected program features Spectrum Center's G Ryan who is the Program Specialist for Education and Training. G shares their journey as a non-binary athlete at U-M.

"There wasn't one clear, direct path to feeling like my best self," G said. "It took time, a lot of trial and error, and a willingness to ask for help, even when I wasn't exactly sure what I needed."
What is Happening at Michigan?
Beyond the Binary

Beyond the Binary is a support and therapy group for students who identify across the trans spectrum. We will share our stories and utilize our collective wisdom to promote healing, healthy coping, wellness, and community.

Apply for the Chris Armstrong scholarship!

This scholarship was established in 2011 by the parents of Chris Armstrong, the first openly gay student elected president of the Michigan Student Assembly. The award supports enrolled undergraduate students who are members of, or have demonstrated support for, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities.

Audition for the UM Educational Theatre Company!

Remember the theater performance during your orientation? Well now's your chance to be a part of welcoming new students! University of Michigan Educational Theatre Company (UMetc) is hosting our Spring/Summer Auditions on February 17 (3-7pm) and February 19 (6-10pm) in the East Room of Pierpont Commons! No theater experience necessary, just come ready to move and ready to play! We are looking to hire students to perform and/or facilitate our shows and workshops with new students during their orientations!
