NEVER, EVER GIVE UP
What is it about a challenge that lures even the most sane of us to take on huge risks? Meet a woman who started swimming after her brother's sudden death at 34. Now 60, she just swam her way across the English Channel and into the record books -- after two previous, failed attempts. She explains how her perspective on aging changes with every stroke she takes.
TAMING THE DRAGON
You've heard of the battle against breast cancer -- but how about the paddle? One of the fastest-growing team sports is bringing survivors and supporters together: dragon boat racing. Growing Bolder produced this story for our partners at Women Playing for T.I.M.E., an organization dedicated to defeating cancers that affect women. We urge you to visit the WPFT community for inspirational stories from survivors and to see how you can make a difference in the fight against cancer.

THE UNI-MARATHON
Marathons continue to explode in popularity. Last year, more than 500,000 people -- a record number -- finished marathons in the U.S. In crowded fields, athletes are looking for new ways to stand out. At the 2011 London Marathon, for example, new Guinness World Records were set for the fastest marathon completed on crutches and the fastest marathon completed dressed as an astronaut (we swear!). But our friend Terry Peterson is aiming for what we think is one of the most extreme marathon records -- completing all 26.2 miles atop a unicycle! The 55-year-old, who goes by the name Unigeezer, will ride his 36-inch unicycle at the Long Beach Marathon on Sunday, and he says there will be no gears, no coasting and no stopping. We'll let you know how he does. Click below to see him in action!
