New Search Engine Coming January 22
We are excited to announce that we will be implementing a new search engine for our library catalog beginning January 22. It won't affect how our website looks or how you will search our catalog. However, it may affect the types of results you get from your searches -- hopefully in a good way!
Our library system, Koha, now has the option to enable search engine technology called Elasticsearch. This new technology will allow all of us to search faster and get more accurate results from the library's catalog. We'll be enabling Elasticsearch on Tuesday, January 22 and will begin a period of testing and adjusting the search engine settings. Our goal is to provide you with the fastest, most accurate search of our holdings as possible.
Elasticsearch will fuel all searches made from the Catalog. Searches of Discovery (usually the default for our search bar) will continue to use EBSCO's search engine technology and will not be affected by this change.
You can help! If you are searching the catalog ("Catalog" selected from the menu next to the search bar) and notice that your results are not quite what you were expecting, please let us know. Use our Ask the Librarian form to alert us. It is especially helpful if you can give us a lot of details about your search so that we can replicate it and investigate it fully.
