New endeavours, getting creative with the Coronavirus, and my free book promotion
Welcome to my first grown-up newsletter! I've been busy with a website revamp, setting up my first Kindle free book promotion and submitting several short stories and a novella I'm really happy with. The format of this newsletter is the first stab, so expect changes, and please, I'm open to suggestions and constructive criticism! Despite the Coronavirus or maybe because of it, I've re-energised my writing plans, and I foresee a fruitful year of fiction in 2020!
It's hard to place this story in a genre, as the Amazon categories show; it's a straight historical retelling of the presumed end of the doomed Queen Boudicca up to her last known whereabouts, where it veers off to the Sci-Fi/ fantastic; it's also kind of a whodunnit. Intrigued? Now's your chance to find out for free.
It's a novella, so a quick read, and I would love for you to leave me a review, be it good, bad or indifferent! Reviews really help authors sell more books, and readers discover new stories. Thank you!
The Dispossessed - Ursula Le Guin It's long overdue for me to catch up on Le Guin's Sci-Fi, and this one, with its strong political message, feels topical.
I Am Providence Vol 2, edited by S.T. Joshi Volume 1 was a dense and incredibly well-researched biography of my favourite cosmic horror author. I know I'm going to be sad reading this one; HPL left us far too soon, but I'm living the rich contextual background to his life and works.
Polyphemus - Michael Shea I read Shea's excellent The Autopsy years ago, not realising it was the same author of this collection. It's out of print so I waited a while to finally buy a fairly battered paperback copy.
