Hello :~)

How are you?

Wow, first of all, thank you to all the kind souls that reached out after the last email. It is so nice that so many of you are receptive to this little newsletter. It's just the motivation I need to keep chugging along.

Alright. Diving straight into this one and keeping it pretty short, but just wanted to update you all on some very exciting news!

An apartment

Dom and I have found an incredible dreamy new home!

This all happened extremely quickly – no joke, this email was initially drafted to address the stresses of apartment hunting. Instead, everything fell into place within a couple of days, and now in a month's time, we'll be moving into an apartment in Kreuzberg!

I keep having to pinch myself, it doesn't feel real.

But it is real! Yippee! I am so grateful and happy and feeling so so blessed.

Anyway, a little back story to it all.

We started apartment hunting because our current living situation was a bit unstable – we were extending our contract every four or five months, and this time around, we had no idea if we would have it extended again. We started to feel like we might be without a place to live in April. So, we decided to bite the bullet and look for a new place – we already knew we were going to be in Berlin for all of 2019 anyway.

I had actually started looking right after Christmas – a ridiculous length of time, but I didn't want to take any risks. We knew we had had pretty decent luck finding our current place, but we also knew it was going to be much more challenging finding a lease – they are a dime a dozen in this city these days. Especially for the neighbourhood(s) we were looking at, especially with the features we were hoping for (a balcony and maybe a bathtub if we were really fortunate), especially for the price range we were aiming for (cheap as chips).

Well anyway – long story short, once again, we accidentally hit the jackpot.

This time, we only sent out two emails, heard back from one, and this one visit turned into an offer!

And somehow we have found a place that has a balcony, and a bathtub, and a guest room (no reason not to visit anymore!) and is right next to the U-Bahn station (a major upgrade from the 10ish minute walk currently), and a really really short bike ride to our respective offices, and even within walking distance from Berghain (@Stef Eleni), and right behind Gorli Park (@Matt Nielsen)!

Okay. I need to stop rambling now or I never will.

Once we move in in March, I will do a proper complete virtual tour for you all. It's really such a special space, I wish you could all see it in person.

Yay! New apartment! New home! So excited!

On your way out...

A condensed apartment wishlist.

Sun Shower Curtains
– Buy
I've been dreaming about one of these colourful shower curtains for a long time, and now we might finally have a reason to get one! I hate the name, but the 'Orient Pop' is maybe the one I am leaning towards at the moment.

Afro Chairs
– Admire
We will have no table or chairs, so it's a bit of a clean slate in terms of how we choose to purchase our dining set. But, I think I want something super colourful and silly. Something like these Afro Chairs is what comes to mind first.

HAY Palissade Table
– Buy
On that whole 'not having a table' topic, we are most likely going to be a pretty average indoor table, and instead splash out on a nice balcony table. The balcony is very large by Berlin standards, and I'm looking forward to having a bunch of wine nights / dinner parties on the balcony in the summer. (No we will not be getting this expensive HAY table, but it's nice to dream.)

String Furniture
– Buy
Okay, first I was drooling over USM Haller furniture, now I am dulling my tastes a little bit perhaps by pining after String furniture... all in all none of these things are really in my price range. Again, there is nothing wrong with aspirational moods.

Goodbye :~)

Okay that's all really, I just wanted to tell all of you ASAP! If you missed my original email about finding an apartment (back in July 2018), you can read that here.

As always, if you liked this email, please share it with a friend if you think they might like it too.

Much love.
