Together we have donated countless volunteer hours in support of our mission promoting STEM awareness in the city of Houston and we couldn't have done any it without your participation!

We want to thank all of the incredible volunteers who help make our events possible and what a better way than a happy hour! Come network with local professionals at SHPE Houston's and ALPFA's joint Happy Hour taking place at Holman Draft Hall this Thursday. Light appetizers will be provided. All are welcome!

Calling all Scholarship Applicants! Deadline Extended!

Know a student in Texas that could use a scholarship? Applications for the SHPE Houston 2019 Scholarship are now open! These scholarships are open to all students pursuing a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) undergraduate degree at a college or university in Texas in the Fall of 2019.

Calling All Volunteers! Join SHPE Houston at Career and Education Day (CED)
Hispanic Forum's signature event, Career and Education Day, is around the corner and we are asking for your support in our largest community outreach event of the year.
Both Professional and Student volunteers are welcomed! Please, if you can give a couple of hours of your Saturday morning it would make a big difference to Houston's youth. We will be leading the following activities:
- "A Day in the Life of an Engineer" panel
- TAME Trailblazer
- ProjectLIT mentorship booth
When: Saturday, February 16th, 2019 from 9 am to 3 pm

MATHCOUNTS needs graders!
MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide program that promotes math excellence for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and combines the efforts of education, business, government and the technological community. It motivates students to do well in math and recognizes and rewards them for achievement.

Join our first SHPE/NSBE Women's Empowerment Panel to conclude Engineer's Week. Middle school and high school gals will hear from influential women about their experiences in the STEM fields and how they have succeeded in their respective industries.

Calling All Volunteers! Join SHPE Houston at Texas A&M SHPEtina Panel
The SHPE Texas A&M Student Chapter is seeking SHPEtinas for their women panel discussion, lets show them our support! SHPEtinas from the Houston professional chapter will be in attendance where advice, knowledge, experiences and more will be shared with fellow Latina students. Join us for a night of learning.

Bear Creek Elementary STEM Night - On January 24th, Bear Creek Elementary hosted their annual STEM Night. SHPE Houston, among other groups, organized hands-on STEM activities for the students. This year we had a Gumdrop and Toothpick Bridge activity. Kids loved it! Many boys and girls came and build their bridges with the help of our volunteers. We saw many different designs, traditional and creative, but the most important thing is they had fun learning. Thanks to our volunteers to make this event to be such a success!
