3 February 2019  -  Climbing at Hamerkop

Meet leader:  Mike Byrd  - 083 625 6294 - email muddyboot@live.co.uk
Hamerkop Kloof is a long kloof, the lower part of which is owned by the Hamerkop Mountain Trust while the upper part is privately owned, so off limits unless you have a permit from the landowner.  The kloof is home to over 200 trad climbs along its length, of which most are grade 18 and below. Many of the routes are also one pitch long, making the area a safe and fun venue for people starting trad climbing. Hamerkop has one of the shortest walk-ins of any of the Magaliesberg kloofs, making it a popular crag for families with young children.
Contact Mike if you wish to participate.
10 February 2019  -  Climbing at Grootkloof

Grootkloof is a shady, attractive kloof with a running stream, clear pools and unique rock formations, including a huge suspended chock stone with trees growing on it straddling the whole kloof midway between Sonderbroek and Trumpet. The rock, which in places reaches 60 metres in height, is generally excellent, and the kloof has a good selection of climbs of all grades.
