DON’T AGONIZE. ORGANIZE.
Six years ago, we hosted our first edit-a-thon to add content on art and feminism to Wikipedia. Since then, participants have led 500+ events around the world, creating and improving thousands of Wikipedia pages.
From small gatherings at coffee shops to hundreds of folks at the largest cultural institutions in the world, you have helped improve one of the most visited websites on the internet and the largest general reference work to date. And the reason that this project has flourished is that you show up every year.
This year, we're focusing on the histories of cis and trans women and non-binary folks around the world. The fact is when we don’t tell our stories or participate in preserving our own history for ourselves and future generations, it gets erased. Gaps in the coverage of knowledge about gender, feminism, and the arts on one of the most visited websites in the world is a big problem.
Everyone has a part to play in smashing patriarchy. Here at A+F, we view information activism as our role in the collective fight.
March marks the 6th year of the project.
