UA Chemical Biologists Unearth Cause of A Rare Brain Disorder

With an underdeveloped brain, babies born with pontocerebellar hypoplasia often do not survive past one year and struggle to move, feed, and even breathe. Now, UA researchers including BIO5 members, Dr. Rajesh Khanna, Dr. Vijay Gokhale, and Dr. Eric Lyons, have keyed into the biological mishap that causes stunted brain growth and, ultimately, muscle movement failure.
