WIIT's 2019 International Women's Day Reception

Event Recap
Pillsbury Wintrop Hosts WIIT and Patrick Jephson on January 16th for a Conversation on Princess Diana as a Diplomat

On January 16, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP hosted WIIT and best selling author of “Shadows of a Princess” Patrick Jephson for a conversation on Princess Diana’s leadership as a humanitarian and diplomat. Patrick served for many years as Princess Diana’s private secretary and was first-hand witness to her legendary charm, wit and strength which she used effectively to chart her own course as a royal advocate for challenging causes. Patrick relayed incidents which illustrated the seriousness and dedication that Diana felt for her mission and the hard work she put in to make a meaningful impact through her charitable work.

The stories depict a woman who was exceptionally strong in the face of a failing marriage, bureaucratic interference and one who managed to carve her own unique identity despite the odds against her. Her natural warmth and spontaneity meant that Princess Diana made a lasting impact on those she met.

For the WIIT community, the discussion highlighted a wide range of skills and tactics that Princess Diana leveraged exceptionally well, and can apply to many current careers here in Washington.

The illustrated talk was followed by a book signing and a wine and cheese reception.
