As you are aware, we have been working with the Fox Federation for some time. The Governing Boards of Fox Federation and Avonmore Primary School are proposing that Avonmore join the Fox Federation. The consultation document can be viewed here

Emergent Reading Workshop for Nursery & Reception parents - Tuesday 29th January at 9am
NB CHANGE OF DATE!

It was great to see so many parents at the writing workshop last Monday. We have a second workshop on Tuesday 29th January which will concentrate on supporting your child's reading in Nursery and Reception.

Learning around Avonmore this week

'Ladybird, Ladybird how many spots? How many spots has the ladybird got?'. The children in the Nursery have been very keen to count and draw different quantities of spots in our Maths Meetings this week.

This week Reception have been learning about 3D Shapes. They then began to describe and sort these shapes into groups, depending on their features.

In Year 1 this week, we have been sorting materials using a Venn diagram. We are using excellent vocabulary to describe the materials.

Year 2 had a fantastic time on their trip to the National Army Museum where they learnt all about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.

Year 3 used their problem solving abilities to find out how many combinations of outfits Robin Hood could wear.

This week, Year 4 went on a trip to the Victoria & Albert Museum and we explored using the artwork to tell stories!

Year 5 had an absolutely fantastic time at their puppet-making workshop this week. The children created impressive puppets of their own, and then used them to stage performances of Macbeth.

Year 6 enjoyed researching plants this week in science: we looked at how plants have developed and adapted to different environments over the last 500 million years!

Online Safety Workshop - Friday 1st February at 8.50am
We are delighted to invite all parents and carers to an Online Safety Workshop on Friday 1st February at 8.50am. Come and learn some useful tips on how to set parental controls, monitor social media and generally keep your children safe online. All welcome!

AVONMORE PLAY
Avonmore is delighted to be able to offer ‘Avonmore Play ‘our after school provision, the service is now established and is open to all children from Reception upwards.

Each day there will be a different theme as well as an opportunity to play, read and catch up with home learning:

Mondays – performing art
Tuesdays – art and craft
Wednesday – art and sports
Thursdays – cooking
Fridays - science and games

Sessions run from 3.45 – 4.45pm and from 4.45 – 5.45pm. Each session costs £3 per child and must be booked and paid for in advance on School Gateway. You must register 24 hours in advance as we need to be able to plan and resource the sessions. There may be space for some emergency places but we cannot guarantee them. If your children attend, please note there are only two pick up times; 4.45pm and 5.45pm.

After half term, you will no longer be able to book in person or on the phone, only online so if you have any problems, please come and see Mrs Hammerton in the office.
