Why you should "Like" the Island Divers Hawaii Facebook page.

Short Answer:
If you "Like" the Island Divers Hawaii Facebook page, FB will let you know about upcoming events "in your area" that you might be interested in and all of the special events such as the club events will be feed to you on your Facebook news feed.

Long Answer:
This year all our club events have also be made into Facebook events under the Facebook pages that we manage, with links to sign up for the events.  What liking the page will do is feed you anything we post, but in my experience it also reminds you of upcoming events.  That could be handy as a diver.  If you are like me, you are looking at your Facebook news pretty often, and event reminders are a thing.  I've been asking guests recently what made them sign up for certain events, and "saw it of Facebook" is now a common answer.  So, if you are taking the time to read this newsletter, you are definitely the target audience for club events.  Like the page and FB will do the reminders for you!

I was curious about the difference between a Like an a Follow.  Here is a good article on that.  Short answer is just Like the page and you are automatically Following, but there is an option to see anything we post at the top of your news feed.

All the events are shared between Pages, so you only really need to Like the Island Divers page.  Click on the link above and Like the page.

Meet Derek - Freediving Instructor

Derek Broussard - SSI Level II Freediving Instructor - Level II Molchanovs Freediving Instructor

Derek Started freediving in 2006 and quickly began to love the sport.  After a combat tour in Iraq with the 82nd and eight years in the Army, Derek Broussard ended his enlistment and joined the renowned Cirque Du Soleil as an Apnea specialist. Where he performed a breath hold act in front of an audience of 5,000 people a night. Traveling the world with Cirque gave Derek the opportunity to Freedive in amazing places some of which no humans have ever free-dived before.  In his own words, “Freediving offers an adventure like no other! With the lack of bubbles and equipment you really feel like you are a part of the aquatic world and marine life treat you different. Freediving has allowed me close encounters with Dolphins, humpback whales, Crocodiles, turtles, and sharks ranging from aggressive bulls to the peaceful whale shark!”  It was these experiences with the wildlife that cemented his passion for the ocean and for sharing the sport of freediving.

Now with over 12 years of experience and expertise Derek is sought out by those looking for the best freediving instruction on the island.

In addition to being a freediver for over 12 years and working with Cirque Du Soleil, Derek was won underwater photography competitions.  Check out his photography here.  He also competes in international competitions and has an amazing 6 minute static breath hold.
