Whew, 2018 was a barn burner fueled by music, art and technology with flames fanned by all of you, thank you!

Welcome to my 2019 season!

With so many new projects coming up on the horizon I just wanted to take a moment to reflect and acknowledge all the amazing individuals and organizations who helped me accomplish so much last year.

I wrapped up a year-long residency in 2018 at Joe’s Pub at The Public, as the inaugural recipient of
The Vanguard Residency and Award, which celebrates an icon of American pop culture. Major highlights include a world-class commission Refrigerated Dreams with Carrie Mae Weems, Visual Artist, Niegel Smith, Director, and Francesca Harper, Choreographer. Presenting Parallel Lives, an evening of music and spoken word exploring the lives and music of the legendary Billie Holiday and Édith Piaf—a global celebration of both ‘Lady Day’ and the ‘Little Sparrow.’ The first-ever Rock Solid Women’s Festival, a 3-day festival presenting an incredible lineup of poets, spoken word artists, comedians, radio hosts, singers and songwriters; and much, much more. Many of these projects will continue in the coming months and years so stay tuned.

With great gains come loss as well, both sides of the coin of life.  In my personal life, January brought the dreaded flu which I recovered from but it also marked the loss of my last Brother, Julian Hendryx, there’s no recovery from losing a loving brother, a rock, a quiet-spoken, gentle giant, rest in peace
💔

With Gratitude,
Nona Hendryx
