Dear Campus Community,

We finally have our entire community back on campus. It feels great to get started back with our work. I want to welcome you back and wish you the best as we begin. Thank you for all you did to make our first semester on campus feel incredible and meaningful.

We have had different experiences over the last month but there have been many people continuing their work. Nursing students and faculty have been in Haiti doing service work and living our mission statement which calls for us to create opportunity to experience personal and academic growth. We are very proud of this special group of students and thank them for their service to the world community.

Our baseball team and coaches conducted a huge fundraising event this past weekend. Our team, their parents, community members, and alumni participated and we had unprecedented enthusiasm and money raised as this team seeks to elevate their program and practice facilities. It was an unbelievable night!

We announced our new Board of Trustees leadership with Linda Judge-McRae assuming the chair position and Mike Kelly assuming the vice-chair role for 2019-2020.

There are a lot of things happening on campus early in the semester. Please support the MLK Day Celebration events. There has been a great deal of planning and work put into this emphasis.

We will begin our 2019-2020 budgeting process earlier and will seek collaboration and input on the next budget. This will be a new collaborative approach to engage campus in working together as we get stronger. We will brief you to keep you informed about our spring numbers in late January and on the positive energy which is underway as we recruit next year’s new student class.

I am going to continue to meet with groups and individuals on campus to continue to learn about the institution and about your dreams and concerns. I will also be on the road a great deal as we continue to seek to raise friends and donors for your work.

As you get back into the swing of things, don’t forget how lucky we are to get to shape young lives and work in an environment with positive energy and spirit. We all have challenging roles and sometimes the work just keeps coming. Enjoy it, spend time with the students, listen to how optimistic they are deep down. Help them discover their gifts and as you work I want you to know what a difference you are making in their lives!

Thanks,

Tony
