Gospel Wildfire

Have you ever feel like you were living in two different worlds, where the things you say and the things you do seem to be the opposite?

This is exactly what happened to missionary Otto Koning, that after spending seven years with an Indonesian tribe, people ask him if he had just become a Christian.

He had been angry toward the people because they were stealing his pineapples, and at the same time he was teaching about Jesus. It was at this point that he realized that the Gospel is alive and that loving one another was the way that our words will have a deep impact on people.

As Colossians 1:3-6 says,
We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints,5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth.

Paul is letting the Colossians know that they are bearing great fruit. That everything they have learned and understood is shown in the love they have for one another.

Think on your everyday actions and consider the impact these have on your words. Do these confirm or deny your message?

If the Holy Spirit is leading you to confess that this has been your struggle, go ahead and pray about it.

I encourage you to take hold of the unhindered access to the Father that Jesus gained for us, and ask Him to lead the way, to reveal areas in your life where your words and actions preach different messages.

After all, it is in His power that we will prevail and through His grace that we will become victorious.

KEEP GROWING...

Will 2019 Be What I Want?

It is not unusual to approach the new year asking ourselves what the new year will bring or would it bring what I want. Circumstances can change, but what if they don’t? What if they do? Is there something better than circumstances?

I have to admit that right after Christmas I started to feel like I was ready to move on or out of the holiday season. Have you ever felt this way? I am thankful for every opportunity I had to be with family and friends and to focus on beautiful truths behind Christmas. But something was feeling like..ok, I had enough! So I began searching for a place in God’s Word, the Bible, to help me think about the future and the New 2019 Year. The Holy Spirit led me to Psalm 16.
