Web only: Safety on the minds of riders after Westboro bus station crash

Some transit riders say speeding is common on the transitway and are wondering if this could have been a cause in the Westboro bus station crash. Have you changed your transit habits? Email your thoughts and feedback to editor@kitchissippi.com and you may see your comments in the next issue.

What happened to Newswest?

KT's relationship with Newswest represented a unique publishing model, to be sure, and the "paper within a paper" had a 40-year history in the community. The December issue was its final printed edition. What happened? Get the backstory and see what's in store for Newswest right here.

Looking back, looking forward

It's our annual tradition to review the cover stories from 2018 and provide updates. See what's new with Chef Michael Holland (er, "devil's lettuce"?), Arpi, and some of the other local musicians, volunteers, entrepreneurs, and activists in our community.

Who Lives Here? The house with the purple door

Not every home we profile for Who Lives Here is a modern new build. We also love to feature older, smaller homes that have been thoughtfully renovated and preserved. If you've ever wondered who lives behind the purple door on Athlone, wonder no more

We are building our list of homes to profile in 2019! Send your suggestions to editor@kitchissippi.com.

100 years!

Dave Allston's latest Early Days column is about the building on the corner of Richmond Road and Churchill Avenue. Its curved exterior wall places it firmly on the list of most recognizable buildings in Westboro. Although its commonly referred to as the Lululemon building, it's actually seen a few different incarnations. In fact, that corner has seen a lot of changes over the last 100 years. Don't miss the extra photos in the web version of this story! One of them shows the original location of Newport. (We're betting you don't know where it was.)

We need your help

Don't forget to take our reader survey! The survey takes less than five minutes to fill out. It's right here. A big thank you to those who've already submitted theirs. It will help us out immensely in the year(s) to come. This link will be available until the end of January.

The lucky winner of our $50 gift card from the Cupcake Lounge is Catherine P., who may or may not share her winnings with her husband and grandchildren. ;)

Congratulations! And thank you to all of our subscribers - new and old - for reading and supporting community news. Stay tuned for our next giveaway for newsletter subscribers! Watch for the announcement on our Facebook page.
