How the County Budget Works for You
The 2019 budget includes 46 new employees, the majority of which will be in the Sheriff's Office to increase patrol officers and staff at the regional crime lab, 911 dispatch and detention facility. The budget also sets aside $12.9 million for Capital Improvements such as infrastructure, facility, technology and public safety needs. Approximately $800,000 is allocated for the District Attorney's Office and Tri-County Health Department, which are services shared with neighboring counties.

District 2 Commissioner Nancy Sharpe (far left), attended the Goldsmith Gulch Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 25, 2018 with Mayor Ron Rakowsky. The $2.1 million dollar project was funded in part, by Arapahoe County Open Space Sales and Use Tax. It will restore the eroded Goldsmith Gulch channel to its natural ecology and provide a new park area with pathways, gardens and shelters. It's located at the northeast corner of Yosemite and Caley in Greenwood Village.

District 1 Commissioner Kathleen Conti speaks at a Habitat for Humanity Dedication for the Sheridan Project. The Arapahoe County Housing and Community Development Division provided $1 million in funding to the affordable housing project, which will provide 63 new townhomes for low to moderate income families.

The Board of County Commissioners welcomed U.S. Representative Jason Crow to the District and discussed how Arapahoe County uses federal funds to meet constituent needs and highlighted the county's federal priorities.

Its mission is to identify and prioritize problems and offer solutions by way of recommendations to improve the criminal justice system and to enhance public safety.
