CODEX Artists

We always look forward to CODEX, a book fair and symposium held every two years just across the Bay in Richmond. Some of our most prized objects in the Archive collection came from this biennial celebration of the contemporary hand-made book. In anticipation of this year’s event, we’ll showcase some favorite books acquired at CODEX, including the innovative and letterformy creations of Redfoxpress, Sabine Golde, Russell Maret, Islam Aly, and Thomas Ingmire.

1990s Design

In February, we take a look at the Archive's holdings of quintessentially ’90s design. A decade characterized by experimentation, the 1990s represented a major turning point in the field. Elise Carlton will explore works by influential designers of the time like April Greiman, Paula Scher, Wolfgang Weingart, and Neville Brody, as well as a selection of seminal periodicals like Ray Gun, Emigre, and FUSE.
