New year, new issue of The Vine

Welcome to the first edition of Currant News for 2019!

Dried Fruits Australia is looking forward to another great year, packed with exciting events and other important initiatives.

We are busy preparing a new industry development program for growers, and are set to host the international dried grape conference for the first time in 11 years.

You can read about some of the things we have planned for 2019 in the new issue of The Vine. The magazine has been mailed out to levy payers and is available to read on the DFA website.

Blue-green algae alert

Fluctuating levels of blue-green algae in the Murray River from Red Cliffs to Lake Cullulleraine are being monitored.

A red alert has been issued for the Mildura Weir pool from Karadoc to Lock 11 and the Wentworth Weir pool from Yelta to Lock 11 (including Wentworth).

Rural customers are advised to keep tanks topped up and prepare to isolate supply.

Visit the Lower Murray Water website for more information. A fact sheet on irrigating with blue-green algae affected water is available here.

Brown marmorated stink bug was recently detected in two Victorian locations. Agriculture Victoria staff are conducting surveillance for this exotic nuisance pest, which could have a significant impact on agricultural industries. If you see one, catch it and call the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881.
