From Mark McVeigh, Principal
Dear DBS Parents,
Thank you for contributing to such a successful ‘Denla 5’ week. Students, teachers and parents were all involved in making it a wonderful DBS community event. All contributed positively to the themes of exercise, sleep, eating and mindset. My own small scale participation on Monday, to the staff rounders event, resulted in aching muscles, and a resolution to do more exercise. Our thanks go, in particular to Mrs McVeigh and Mrs Skinner, with their team of Ms Edwards, Mr and Mrs Fineman, Mrs Holman, Ms McDonnell, K Mode, Mr Plowright, Ms Pym, Ms Semark and Ms Traynor.
We also had a fabulous International Day today, organised superbly by Ms Lovatt. Each class chose a country to represent and dressed up accordingly. The parade this morning was a wonderful spectacle, and thank you to all the staff and, indeed parents, who made it so exceptional. I even noticed Mr Higgins doing a bit of Irish jigging. The Assembly, later in the morning, was outstanding, with each class presenting a witty, colourful piece about their countries.
The juxtaposition of our ‘Denla 5’ week and a period of poor air quality was regrettable, but DBS has robust procedures in place, and more analysis is planned, as summarised later in this Newsletter.
You will read later on in the Newsletter about student successes, including Nammon, Ethan and Freddie in the Junior Tridash Bangkok 2019 Series; and Q, who was filmed on the ThaiPBS Kids' channel.
We have added the Parent Survey results to the Parent Portal, in case you were not at the seminar last week. Thank you again to all who took the time to complete the survey. It has given us a clear mandate to develop DBS further.
Lisa joins me in sending you our very best wishes.
