Morning <<First Name>>,

The latest crackdown by Chechnya's leaders may be a response to the release of the OSCE report about the persecution of the LGBT community there.

Any and all ideas or efforts to influence the violence to stop are needed. It's clear that western pressure may only embolden the leaders there, unless Russia is convinced to actually exert influence on the region.

If you're involved in a campaign - or want to reach leaders of the groups involved please let me know.

I'm excited to head back to DC today for Mid-Atlantic Leather weekend! Find event info here from the Blade - but also some a number of underground parties #Mallory2019. I'll start at U Street Music Hall for Honcho Friday and end it at the circuit-friendly, Flash nightclub for Flashy Sundays - perhaps I'll check out the new Avalon party Saturday. The next week, I'll be staying at the iconic Renaissance Center in Detroit for the Task Force's annual Creating Change conference Jan 24-27 to spread the word about global LGBTIQ issues.
It's still time to plan the year ahead to travel! If you happen to be going to China, check out my latest blog - the Straight-Friendly Survival Guide. I'm organizing to spend time in Miami - at least for Winter Party - and of course get back to DC for events like the Victory Fund Brunch Apr 7th and/or Cherry the following weekend (and of course Pride!). Then I'll be preparing for NYC World Pride and rehearsing as NYC Gay Men's Chorus specially commissioned work for Stonewall 50 at Carnegie June 27th.
Will you be in Seattle on Feb 7? OutRight now will hold its biggest event in the city yet! Featuring an incredible activist from China along with OutRight's Executive Director, Jessica Stern, the now-entitled "OutRising" will be your opportunity to hear the latest information about global LGBTIQ rights. From advances in the Asia, to backlash happening all-over there is a lot to discuss. Hope to see you there!
