The Business Case for
Racial Equity

W.K. Kellogg Foundation has a new publication that can help your organization make the case for keeping equity at the center of your work.

The premise of "The Business Case for Racial Equity" is that racial equity is both an imperative for social justice and a strategy for economic growth. WKKF, whose primary mission is "putting children first," believes that "just as advancing racial equity has a profound effect on children and their families, it also has tremendous influence on the potential for profound positive economic growth. Inequities hold our society back."

The 42-page report talks about the economic advantages of racial equity; reviews opportunities for progress with housing, education, health, criminal justice, employment and entrepreneurship; and action steps to advance racial equity.

KZCF General Scholarship Application is Open!

Did you know that Kalamazoo Community Foundation offers more than 58 academic scholarships? And the majority are open to all students who are residents of Kalamazoo County, or are graduating from a Kalamazoo County high school.

After signing up for an account on our website, students simply answer a series of questions about their experiences, affiliations and interests, and our system helps them identify the scholarships for which they may qualify. The scholarships are available through one common application.

Most students graduating from Kalamazoo Public Schools will enjoy the benefits of The Kalamazoo Promise, but many find that some costs, such as textbooks, are not covered. KZCF scholarships can be used for all costs related to higher education, including room and board, and we encourage Promise students to apply for scholarships to cover any extra costs associated with attending college.

Students will need to complete the online scholarship application by March 1, and are strongly encouraged to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application at fafsa.gov as well.
