Exact Sciences to report $454-455M in total revenue, 71-percent growth for 2018

For full-year 2018, the company anticipates reporting total revenue between $454 million and $455 million, a year-over-year increase of 71 percent. Completed Cologuard test volume during 2018 was approximately 934,000 tests, a 64-percent increase from 2017. Nearly 15,000 health care providers ordered Cologuard for the first time during the fourth quarter of 2018. The number of providers who have ordered Cologuard since its launch increased to nearly 147,000 during 2018.

Madison will house new stem cell production facility

January 3, 2019
Fujifilm Cellular Dynamics, Inc. (FCDI) plans to build a $21 million facility in Madison to manufacture stem cells for use in developing regenerative medicine drugs — its own drugs and those of other companies. FCDI has labs and offices in University Research Park at 525 Science Drive and recently expanded to 465 Science Drive.

Stemina’s Beth Donley – Best of Madison Business 2019

Stemina Biomarker Discovery’s roots are in stem cells, one of the pillars of Madison’s standing in the bioscience world. After eight years as general counsel and director of business development for the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, or WARF, Beth Donley founded Stemina in 2006 with University of Wisconsin–Madison scientist and pioneer stem cell researcher Dr. Gabriela Cezar.

Within three years Stemina’s first product hit the market and the company took off, growing its team and expanding its drug-screening technologies to diagnostic biomarker discoveries in autism, cancer and reproductive biology.

Hiring, wages and profits all rise, Madison-area business leaders say in survey

December 15, 2018
Three-fourths of the local executives who replied to the annual First Business Bank Economic Survey said sales jumped in 2018 and even more, 78 percent, expect revenue to increase in 2019. More than half, 53 percent, said their company was more profitable this year than last and 55 percent project another round of profitability gains in 2019.

“The results were overwhelmingly positive in just about every category,” First Business Bank President Jim Hartlieb said.

D2P is currently accepting applications for two spring semester courses to help campus innovators commercialize their groundbreaking ideas, Innovation to Market (I2M) and Igniter. All D2P programs are free and open to UW–Madison faculty, staff, and students.

Madworks Accelerator Spring Cohort

Madworks will offer a program starting in early February that will run 10 weeks to early April. We will meet twice a week; once as a group, where we will discuss biggest challenges, hold pitch practices, and other group activities, and once individually, where we will spend 30 minutes discussing your exact needs and challenges.
