Catching up and moving forward
We had a great time back in the US visiting friends and family. We were able to sell our car the day before we left to return to Guatemala and we gave our house back to Habitat. We felt God asking us to "be all in" here and it certainly was a relief to be out from under it. Our ministry here is no longer burdened by it and another family can now be blessed by it.

We enjoyed our first Christmas in our home here, decorating, caroling and spending time with the PRINCE OF PEACE girls. We celebrated with traditional food: Tamales wrapped in banana leaves, fireworks, movie night and slumber party. The sweet slumber came for most around 1:00am and Darren and Gwen retreated home to return in the morning at 7:00am.
Jo Adams cooked a great Michigan style breakfast and Santa brought everyone bubbles.

We wanted to get to know some of our neighbors better, so we baked 18 dozen cookies and hired some local artists to make cards. (We paid them in cookies--of course.) It was a lot of fun and we met some really great people.

Following God Forward into 2019
Darren is continuing to be busy at CAG, his latest project is converting a shed into a chicken coop/aquaponics program for the students who are studying agriculture. Both great projects for future missionaries!
Gwen is enjoying the pace of the tutoring program at POP and the chance to work with smaller groups (some 1:1) to build relationships with the girls through English. Several of the adult staff have also begun sessions to improve their conversation skills.

The Meal Ministry is off to a great start thanks to contributions for crock pots and a freezer. We are currently helping 2 missionary families and one single missionary who is very busy taking care of the medical needs of the POP girls and several other projects. We currently have funding for 2 more months of food. If you would like to sponsor a family for more monthly meals, it would be a wonderful blessing to both you and the missionary family. You can do so by visiting our donation page and specifying the money for "The Allen's Meal Ministry Project".

We have so very much to be thankful for and we count you, our financial and prayer partners at the top of the list.

- That we will continue to trust and follow as God directs our steps in present and future ministries.
- For our finances. We are currently near 70% funded. God is providing for our basic needs but we still need health insurance ($45/mo.), passport/Visa expenses, income taxes and savings for car repairs or doctor visits.
- For our families at home as they grow, graduate from training and face medical concerns.
