Notices


Early Closing 
School will close at 12:30 tomorrow (Friday 18 January) due to the Celebrations of Excellence ceremonies. The office will close at 13:00 and Bugs Boutique 
will close at 14:00, not 14:30.

Payments at Bursars' Office
We are moving towards a cashless environment at school and will therefore not be accepting cash payments any longer. To sign up with Karri, which allows for easy and quick payments to the school, complete this short survey.  You will be added to the system and prompted to download Karri on your smart phone or computer.  Other payment options include Snapscan and EFT.  When making EFT payments, please reference with your daughter’s name and the purpose of the payment e.g tuck/music/bugs/etc.

Sports News


Several Rustybugs have competed locally and on a national level this past holiday. Sports include Squash, Swimming, Tennis and Water Polo and non-school sports such as Chess and Horse Riding. Well done to all of you - you make us proud!

Jordan Campbell (second from right) represented South Africa during the recent holidays. She played in the Redtone 12th KL Junior Open Squash Championship held at the NSC Squash Centre, Kuala Lumpur as well as the Oncocare Singapore Junior Squash Open at Kallang Squash Centre, Singapore. Congratulations!

Gr 8 Lead 4 Life workshop


The Grade 8s participated in a one day Lead 4 Life Leadership Workshop last week. The programme offers all Grade 8 pupils an opportunity to bond with others in their grade as well as learn key communicative and team work skills.

  • Not Just Tutors is hosting a workshop for parents of teenagers to discuss communication, boundaries and trust in this sensitive relationship. Download the poster here...
  • The "I AM" course for teenage girls will be focusing on creating awareness of self-esteem and self-image and on developing better coping strategies in dealing with anxiety and overall teen pressure. The course takes place in Noordhoek where a group of girls will attend weekly sessions with the facilitators and their horses over four weeks. Download the poster here...

Study Skills Program for Grade 8 to 12s:

 
These key areas are covered: Goal setting, time-management, how your brain works, your learning environment and preferences, concentration, study methods, summarising and memory tips.
 
Dates and times (you must attend BOTH Fridays):
Friday 25 January (Sessions 1, 2 and 3) 15h00 to 18h00.
Friday 1 February (Sessions 4, 5 and 6) 15h00 to 18h00.
 
Closing date for registration: Monday, 21 January 2019
 
Venue: Pinelands Library, Pinelands.
 
Cost: R950 in total (which includes BOTH Fridays, a manual, stationery, beverages, fruit juice and snacks).

Melanie Williams and Monique Nyback are both experienced educators and are passionate about empowering young people to overcome academic barriers. Melanie Williams is a registered psychometrist and Monique Nyback teaches at a top independent girls’ school and is doing her Masters in Educational Psychology.

Parents Prayer Group
Every Friday from 7.50-8.30am a group of parents come together in the Matric Common Room, Erinville Hostel for Christian prayer.  New and existing parents are welcome to join us.

Looking for a housekeeper?
My children are now grown and I am no longer needing my housekeeper full time. Nombini has been with me for over 18 years, so If you are looking for someone who is loving, loyal, and just a wonderful kind person, then please let me know if you would like Nombini to help clean and look after children.
