FROM CLEVELAND AGO DEAN TIMOTHY ROBSON

Timothy RobsonHello, AGOers!

It’s January in Cleveland, and we’re staring at a few snowy, cold days coming up. It may turn out to be a good time to stay home, put on your favorite organ music or opera or hip-hop recordings and enjoy the indoors. My cat Moe and my corgi Jacob are never averse to cuddling up with their human.

We now have a new date for our first January AGO Cleveland house meeting. Now both meetings are scheduled for the same January 26-27 weekend. The new date for the meeting hosted by Don Jackson is Saturday, January 26, 10-11:30 AM at his home. Further information is below. The meeting hosted by Don Verkuilen remains on Sunday evening, January 27. Both gentlemen would appreciate a call or an email if you plan to attend so that they know how many refreshments to provide, as well as how many chairs will be needed. I am hoping to attend both meetings to hear the discussion.

Believe it or not, it’s not too soon to start thinking about the 2019 AGO Regional Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan, June 30-July 3, 2019. The convention hotel is the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, 187 Monroe Ave NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503, which I’m told is quite luxurious. If the AGO national conventions are too expensive and/or intimidating, the regional conventions are a good option. They are shorter, closer to home, but with very fine talent involved. Conventions are a good way to network with other AGO members.

Stay warm, and be careful when driving!

All best,

Tim Robson

20508 Hilliard Blvd, Rocky River is in the Riverbank Estates condominium development. This is an unnamed cul-de-sac which gives GPS a headache. The entrance is on north side of street, just west of Northview Rd and east of Magnificat High School. Guest parking is to your immediate right after you turn off Hilliard. Please do not park in front of any other resident driveways. 2 cars can park in front of my garage which is suggested for those with mobility issues. The guest lot is only about 2 minute walk from my front door.

About the Meetings

The purpose of these meetings is to give members a chance to network and talk about professional matters of mutual concern and to learn from each other. There is only one question that attendees at both meetings will discuss: What are the one or two most important things that you think the AGO should do both nationally and locally to meet its vision:

The vision of the American Guild of Organists is to engage, support, and uplift every organist.

NEW PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Have you changed your name, address, email address or other vital information? If so, please be sure to go to the ONCARD system at the national AGO site ([https://agohq.org/oncard-login/ ]). The local chapter directory and the weekly update depend on that information, and we can’t change it on your behalf. Please help us stay up-to-date.
