We have some exciting events planned for 2019, below are updates on our projects and ways that our members can get involved.

Ego Lemos awarded for his work

Timor Leste celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights with a ceremony in Dili.
Ego Lemos founder of Permaculture Timor Leste was awarded for his work for humanity, for establishing Permatil and beginning the establishment of school gardens in primary schools.
Ego will be remembered by many in Australia from his time as a Masters student in International Community Development at Victoria University and for his great music and singing

2019 Boroondara Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations to John Lagzdins, our former treasurer and current secretary has been awarded Boroondara Volunteer of 2019.

“I think of it as an opportunity to show others you can be involved in a variety of things in the community, to help the community along,” said John.
“It’s not about me. It’s an opportunity to show others you can be a volunteer
and live a good, active life.” John Lagzdins

Scholarship Student Isabel

Former scholarship student Isabel (graduated in animal health) has been working as a volunteer with Ego Lemos' organisation Permatil, helping at the Perma Youth camp at Maubisse.

Join us for a social night with the East Timor Hearts Fund Association (ETHF)
at the Augustine Centre, 2 Minona St, Hawthorn

Saturday 18th May 6.30pm to 10.30pm
Food, Drinks, and Entertainment including
Traditional Timorese Dancing will be provided.

Ingrid Svendson, the board chair and a co-founder of East Timor Hearts Fund
will speak on the night.

Medical Supplies

Friends of Same are partnering again with the Melbourne Uni Health Initiative (MUHI) to send medical supplies to the Same Hospital.

Timorese Spices - Friends of Same & Timorganic

Now, you can also support our projects by buying our special Timorese Spices: Cinnamon $5, Turmeric $5 and Ginger $7!!!

All grown and selected by independent farmers in Timor Leste using only natural production methods with No fertilizer or agro-toxics.
